Stars travel up the valley for their first game of 2015 against old rivals RTB Ebbw Vale

Stars travelled to RTB Ebbw Vale where they have not won for a number of seasons. Again the Stars had a very weakened side due to the fact that another popular Stars player Ned was getting married on this Satuday and at least 7 Stars players were unavailable as they were guests at his wedding.

In future the Stars players need to educate their women and ensure they get married in the summer when there are no rugby games!

The squad players did not let the Stars down however and showed huge commitment finishing off a fantastic driving maul with Gavin McDonald scoring a try which Nathan Hughes converted to give the Stars an half time lead of 7-6.

RTB had a full squad and therefore had a much sronger bench which they introduced in the second half and scored 2 tries to win the game 18-7. The Stars players showed huge commitment and were unlucky not to come away with at least a bonus point. Adam Perry motivated the team very well in his first game as captain because club captain Simon Hughes was at Neds wedding. Nathan Hughes had another good game at outside half and dealt well with pressure situations and full back Dan Evans was very solid at full back.

Ross Martin playing out of position at number 8 cleaned up some bad ball and made a number of good powerful runs from the base of the scrum and deservedly won the man of the match award.

A number of players were playing out of position and got on with the job without any moans or groans and the Stars supporters and committee are very proud and pleased with the players committment.

The Stars will be back to full strength for the game against local rivals Ynyysddu and hopefully there will be a strong turn out in training leading up to this game.

Come on the Stars look out Ynyysddu!!!!
