Blackwood Stars are pleased to announce that Robert Bodman and Josh Thomas will be teaming up with head coach Gordon Thomas for the new campaign. Bodman, a former Ynysddu and Oakdale player is returning to coaching after a break whilst following his son who is involved in the young dragons set up. While Josh, a former player of the stars will bring his youthful ideas to the coaching set up.

Pre-season training starts on Monday 3rd July at Libanus Field, Players are asked to meet at 6:45pm for a 7pm start. New team manager Matthew Dix and club captain Ross Martin are looking forward to the coming season with fantastic  commitment from last years squad along with new signings and the return of some former players there are many exciting plans for Blackwood Stars for the 2017-18 season including an overseas tour. 

Blackwood Stars will always welcome old players looking to return rugby and new players looking for a fresh start with us. 

Finally Ross Martin has named his vice captain for the coming season as Matthew Davies.Matthew has shown over the years he has played for the stars that he is committed to the stars and will give his all to the role.  After a very good season last year top try scorer Matthew nearly made a move away from the stars however after much deliberation he has decided to stay and is rewarded with the vice captain role.
