Fixture

Stars were expecting a difficult game against a confident Chepstow side who had started the season well with just one defeat so far. Chepstow did not disappoint they put the pressure on straight from kick off and the Stars found it difficult to hold a large Chepstow side especially in the scrum. However in fairness to the Stars front row they persevered and after about 10 minutes they sorted things out and from then on were the slightly dominant pack.

The Stars players defended well but could not hold a big Chepstow team who eventually won 47 nil although they did score 3 tries in the last 10 minutes when the constant defending started to take its toll on the Stars players.

The Stars squad was weakened because a lot of players were unavailable for a number of different reasons and the club wants to thank the players who turned up, who showed great commitment and attitude and are a credit to the club.

The Stars forwards played particularly well and there was good performances from both props together with Gavin McDonnell and Ross Martin. Also "The Duke" Terry Watkins was impressive in his first game of the season. The half backs showed committed defence throughout the game, Gavyn Bolton had a safe game at full back and Martin Rush kept the backs organized in defence.

The man of the match award goes to captain Nathan Richards for his commitment and attitude together with the manner in which he kept the side together in moments of adversity. He always turns up with a fantastic attitude and some players need to take a leaf out of his book.
