Judgement day at Glan yr Afon Park on 18 November 2016

Blackwood Stars play Blackwood Town in the Ben Francis cup. This is the first competitive game the two sides have played against each other and is a very historic event in the Stars 95 year history.

There has been a couple of colourful descriptions about the event:

  • Lodgers against Owners

  • Present against Past or vis versa depending on who you support

  • The Peoples Team against The Establishment

  • David against Goliath

The Stars are definitely the underdogs and will be going into the game with nothing to lose. The Town are doing well this year recruiting very well in the summer months and flying high in league 2. The Stars are in the league below 3A and are a side consisting or predominately local players who play rugby for fun.

The Stars players will be going into this game with bags of commitment and passion and there is a very good possibility that a giant killing could be on the cards.

Friendships between the two sets of players and supporters will be lost during the game but will certainly be rekindled after the game in the club house.

This is going to be very intense passionate game and will be a good spectacle for both sets of supporters and neutrals who normally supports the underdog.

The weather forecast is dry but cold and the club welcomes as many people as possible to come down and watch the game. Kick off is at 7:30 and Blackwood Juniors are playing an exhibition game before kick off. Entrance fee will be £2 per person.

Finally the Stars would like to thank the following match sponsors for their support which is very much appreciated:

Little House of Beauty  Match Sponsor
